Everyone gifts differently for Fathers day. For some it’s small gifts, others a simple heartfelt card, and for others it’s a day for bigger gifts. However we gift for any event, I want to make sure my celebration of one person doesn’t cost others. So here’s a list of things we’ve chosen for dads in the past – or that Jared loves and recommends to you personally!
Get creative!
You’re probably reading a list so you don’t have to be creative, I get that! So a few ideas for personal maybe local gifting:
- get them a gift card to a coffee shop and time alone
- a book from an independent local bookstore
- a gift card or promise of dinner with YOU – this could be a great if you’re the spouse, child, parent or friend wanting to celebrate them!
- get a selection of local food sent to them, or give it to them. We’ve done local raw food tonics in Austin from Tough Mother, and in the UK we’ve done deliveries from Neal’s Yard for wheels of cheese, as well as full honeycombs and crackers and other local edible treats. Find something high quality and local for a great gift!

We LOVE these. They’re made from reclaimed ocean plastic, my Rothy’s are my go to shoes to pull on for being so comfy and I can throw them in the washing machine. And they just came out with a brilliant men’s line, both the lace ups and loafers.

coffee
Choose some delicious coffee for Dad with compostable packaging from Stumptown in the US, or Clifton coffee in the UK! Our list of go to coffee and tea for US and UK shopping. Whatever we buy I’m looking for well sourced, organic and no plastic packaging to make a great gift for Dad!
fair-trade chocolate
It’s a great easy gift, but can have a dark story behind it so if you’re grabbing chocolate find a well sourced one. There are lots of brands depending on where you are but I’m always looking for fairly traded certified by a a good program – which usually means a transparent story on where the beans are coming from to me. We love Divine, Green and Blacks, Raaka, Lucocoa, and you can see a list of brands HERE in a previous Easter post!
vitae watches
Jared has this watch and after a long search (years!) for a good, well sourced watch we found the best ever option in Vitae. They’re more pricey, but they’re built to last and it’s just such a good piece!
blue light glasses
Jared wears these blue light glasses by Pela Vision ALL the time! He’s very diligent about them to help with his sleep 😉 But they’re a great B Corp, more eco friendly option from a company we adore!
socks
Socks feel like an age old typical dad gift but sometimes they just fit the bill! We just want to make sure even a stereotypical dad gift has a good story before it gets gifted – we love Pact socks and Thought in the UK.

brough brothers whisky
A bottle of whisky is a perfect and easy gift for some dads! We love this landmark distillery that’s the first Black owned distillery in the state of Kentucky, run by three brothers out of Louisville. The history of whisky distilling in the US is an interesting one that really is worth looking into, and for that same history Uncle Nearest is a brand we love too available in the US and the UK.

Beard oil
Natural and organic skincare with herbs and great ingredients for dad’s who shave or care for a beard! I’ve linked it via Wearth London where you can add other ethical well sourced gifts too – it’s a site I love!
Charcoal body bar + face bar
Dad’s typically (but not across the board!) don’t take the same time or care for their skin and they still need good skin care but it’s typically a bit more simple. This bar is a body bar and the face equivalent which I use and love too is great for balancing skin and packaged plastic free and lasts a long time. The Counterman line is also a fab one to shop for dads who you want to help care better for their skin and bodies – what dad’s put on their skin affects so much – especially if they’re in or pre the life stage of making babies!

We both have the classic Chelsea boots from Nisolo and I think they were a Fathers Day gift another year – they’re a last forever style and quality. For every online order, Corkcicle donates 5% of sales to Charity:Water to fund clean water projects around the world.
Storyworth
We recently bought this for family and LOVE the concept. Storyworth sends weekly questions to the recipient (you can customise them!) for a year, then at the end of the year, the answers – an autobiography of sorts, is bound into a gorgeous book – as many copies as you want!

Patagonia Apparel
I have this hat and ADORE it, I got mine for $3 from Goodwill but apparel that lasts for decades and is made with care for people and the environment is always a great gift! Recently Patagonia has made the move beyond “just” Fairtrade made and organic cotton towards regenerative cotton too which is incredible to me and is 100% the impact I want my clothes buying to have.
Good things
This is Jared’s favourite beer and he knows I’m way more excited when beer arrives if it comes from a closed loop local brewery! But really, it’s a fantastic UK business and we’ve never had a bad beer from them – it’s well priced, thoughtfully created and we love every box!
