This week I was obviously lacking in creativity as I reverted back to the staples and didn’t do anything new and fun. Actually as I write I realize I did the one thing I promised myself I wouldn’t and I didn’t use the oregano, oh well, there’s next week! But I love knowing that even in eating the staples and more ‘boring’ dishes, when nothing new shows up, the old dishes are filled with clean, seasonal, local food. That’s the goal. Simple food is actually really happy to me, one of my favorite meals this week was a bowl of stir fried kale and broccoli with garlic, tamari and eggs. So simple and so delicious. A few of the other things we made this week…
The peaches and nectarines happily seemed to go on forever so we enjoyed them whole, on toast with amend butter (yum!!), in smoothies, in and atop smoothie bowls, on pancakes… so many ways round. I also love them on pizza but we didn’t get to that!
The NBA finals have been taking a lot of our time recently 😉 and we had a big ‘Super Bowl’ style night for what turned out to be the final game. I was more excited about the food and brought this fry selection featuring the veg box parsnips as fries with guacamole made using the garlic we got last week. Along with meatballs and a yogurt sauce also with the garlic, they made for happy game time munching.
Simple veggies are one of my favorite things and we did lots of that this week, salads, stir fries, veggie noodles, veggie wraps, nori veggie wraps… I love them all and I love having great produce to work with!
