Dry shampoo

A very easy, 2 ingredient substitute for dry shampoo spray
Prep Time5 mins

Equipment

  • 1 Makeup brush for application
  • 1 Glass Jar for storage

Ingredients

  • Arrowroot or Corn Starch
  • Fairtrade Cocoa (optional depending on your hair colour)
  • Cinnamon (optional depending on your hair colour)

Instructions

  • Mix together small amounts of the different powders in a glass jar.
As a guide: Use about 1 tablespoon each of cocoa and arrowroot for medium dark brown hair - this is what I use. Use just arrowroot for blonde hair, add cinnamon for a more red tone, or closer to a 1:2 arrowroot starch to cocoa for darker hair.
  • If you want you can add a few drops of an essential oil like lavender to the mix - I don't usually bother!
  • Part your hair and dab in a makeup brush with a small amount of the powder and apply some to the roots of your hair. Tip: tap the brush on the lid of the jar to remove the excess before applying it.
  • Continue to part your hair in different places to apply dry shampoo to the roots.
  • Comb through your hair, or use your fingers to distribute the powder.
  • Add more where it's needed.
  • Style and you're done!
